Editorial Policy
Updated:
Purpose
This policy governs everything we publish that is written by us: provider profiles, guides, comparisons, explanatory articles, and the descriptive text around ratings. User reviews are governed separately by the review policy.
Core commitments
- Accuracy over speed. We publish what we can support. Where a fact could not be verified, we either omit it or mark it as claimed-but-unverified. Provider profiles distinguish clearly between information the provider asserts and information we have verified against documents.
- Independence from commercial interests. Editorial content is never written, approved, or amended by advertisers or listed businesses. Sponsored placements are labelled and are covered by the advertising policy; they have no influence on editorial coverage, ratings, or rankings.
- No pay-for-coverage. Businesses cannot pay to be included in a guide or comparison, to be described favourably, or to have critical coverage softened or removed.
- Attribution of sources. Guides and articles cite their sources where a claim is not common knowledge — official registries, published regulations, court records, or named interviews. Statements about Panamanian law are descriptive, dated, and accompanied by a recommendation to seek qualified local counsel.
How content is produced
- Content is drafted from primary sources where available: Panamanian public registries, the relevant regulatory frameworks for real estate intermediation, providers' own published materials, and documents submitted through our verification process.
- Comparative statements ("larger than", "more reviewed than") are based on data in our own system at the time of writing and are dated.
- We use software assistance in drafting and translation. Every published page is reviewed by a person before publication, and responsibility for accuracy is ours regardless of how a draft was produced.
Ratings and rankings in editorial content
When editorial content references a provider's rating, Trust Score, or rank, it uses the live figures produced by the published methodology — see how we rank agencies and how we rank brokers. Editors cannot override, adjust, or "correct" a score. If a score looks wrong, the fix is a data or methodology correction through the corrections process, applied identically to every provider.
Conflicts of interest
- No member of the editorial team may hold a financial interest in a listed agency or brokerage, act as an agent or broker in Panama, or accept payment, gifts, or hospitality from listed businesses.
- If a conflict arises (for example, a team member's relative works at a listed agency), that person is excluded from decisions affecting that provider and the exclusion is recorded internally.
Updates and freshness
- Provider profiles show when they were last updated.
- Guides that describe legal or regulatory matters carry a "last reviewed" date. We aim to re-review such pages at least annually and whenever we become aware of a material change.
- Outdated content that we have not yet re-reviewed is not silently left in place: where we know a page may be stale, we say so on the page.
What we do not publish
- Speculation about individuals' private lives.
- Unverified allegations of criminal conduct. Where formal proceedings are public record, we may report their existence, accurately and with sourcing, including the outcome once known.
- Content whose primary purpose is to promote a provider. Provider self-descriptions on claimed profiles are displayed as such, visually distinct from our editorial text.
Errors
We correct errors rather than quietly rewriting them. Material corrections are noted on the page. The full process, including how to report an error and our response timelines, is in the corrections policy.
Responsibility
Final editorial responsibility rests with the platform's editorial lead, reachable at contact@panamarealestatereviews.com. Complaints about editorial content follow the escalation path on the contact page.
